Forever Friends Challenge

Well..it seems as though it took forever for the family to adjust to the loss of Colin's brother and father, I'm afraid everything went on the back burner for several months but now Colin is back playing bowls and I am back blogging. I am just putting the finishing touches to my DT card for the Forever Friends challenge blog and of course to update my sidebar with all the details. Everything will be ready tomorrow (Tuesday) Thank you for your patience.

Monday 25 June 2012

Thank you...

This year's bumper crop of sugar snaps (I tried to type the posh french words for them but it didn't look right on the screen).  Colin is proudly showing these and the tomatoes to camera. We haven't tried growing these before but they are yummy!

Our tomatoes will be ready very soon...nothing like eating them, still warm, on the way from the greenhouse to the kitchen.
We are keeping busy at the moment to help cope with Colin's loss. Both his brother and his father died within just a couple of weeks and I do thank those who knew for your kind words. I apologise to the rest of the design team on Forever Friends challenge blog and to Chris on her blog as I haven't been able to keep up with my commitments but by the end of the week I hope to catch up with you all. Knight DT

Mornin' from a wet and windy Norfolk. The sparrows are back swimming in the water feature, my washing is hopefully drying on the stand, I keep losing the satellite signal when we get a downpour and I am really quite cold....must be June! After some very bad news last night I have been a bit tardy in posting this card today. So sorry about that but onwards and upwards as they say (who did say that?)
Todays Knight is a digi from Christine it is certainly a very useful one to have in your collection when you get tired of the same old 'male' images. Printed onto watercolour cardstock coloured with promarkers, backing paper from m.c.s., swirl made with my cuttlebug and charm from stash.
I do hope you have better weather than we have here and manage to keep warm this week.

My Forever Friends DT news

At last I can tell....I am now a member of the design team at the Forever Friends challenge blog!!!! We were told a few days ago but had to wait until today to post it on our blogs. I am so chuffed about this and looking forward to using the cute images. I was bursting to tell this news but will post more later today.

Birds DT

I hope you are all having a good week. Today has been quite cool and a bit overcast at times...should mean a bit cooler night tonight. It was the ideal day to get out into the garden and grab some weeds but I was dashing around this morning and just didn't feel like it when I got home. So I decided to make some rockbuns, got everything out ready and found I didn't have enough flour so put it all away again. Started doing the ironing but that wasn't too inspiring so I just ironed through 'Grimm' but got fed up with it. I have only just finished making the bed that I started this morning...what on earth is going on? I don't know if I'm Arthur or Martha tonight but I'll give myself a good talking to and promise to do much better tomorrow.
This lovely Spring image is a digi by Christine printed onto watercolour paper coloured with promarkers with a free digi frame from cuddlybuddly. The branches are made with my cricut and the flowers are of course from wild orchid crafts. The cardstock is from my stash...one of those wonderful 12 x 12 pads. Christine is on a roll with these lovely images, well worth a look. I hope you have a peaceful evening and I just know tomorrow is going to be a good day...the shopping is delivered around mid-day so rockbuns for tea!

Daisy DT

Good morning from what promises to be a very sunny Norfolk. I will have to get out in the garden really early this morning before it gets too hot as the weeds have taken advantage of my inattention and have grown larger than the surrounding flowers. Oh, and chicken news...Hennypenny and Chicken Little have disgraced themselves. They didn't just stick to digging up my bulbs...they nestled in amongst the carrots and that will never do. It turns out that their scratching has disturbed the potato mounds and spread the onions around a bit so I'm afraid our morning chats have to stop. Colin popped a note through next-door asking that the chickens don't visit us any more. I hope they didn't get into trouble. I will have to go back to talking to Mr and Mrs Blackbird.
Anyway back to this lovely digi from Christine printed onto watercolour paper, coloured with promarkers. The dragonfly was in amongst my birthday pressies from Lisa, flowers from wild orchid crafts and ribbon from stash. The Martha Stewart border/corner punch is amazing! It is my first punch from MS, Colin bought it for me from Hobbycraft...I guess his retirement isn't going to be too hard after all. I do hope you have a very nice Wednesday, I'm off to see if the carrots can be saved.

DT card Pansy

Well..the third day of Colin's retirement and we're still on speaking terms. There has been so much to finalise with our business I think it took all of Monday and part of yesterday but today I can box everything up ready for the Inland Revenue, what's the bet I have lost something? Oh yes...I forgot...today is my birthday. After Colin forgot this morning (a bit of a nudge was all that was needed) I am now being sung to on a regular basis. Although being called 'Birthday Girl' is a bit of a reach for the old imagination (I can guess what the grandchildren would say, probably something to do with a monkey in the zoo) Colin is off to bowls this morning and after a visit to the local town I think I will have a 'me' day. A spot of gardening, colouring and generally just chillin' out. I have just had to update this posting...Conversation with my ever lovin'
Colin 'I was going to take you out to lunch but it might be a bit late'
Me 'That's ok, maybe get a chinese or fish and chips tonight'
Colin'I will have to see what I feel like, meaning said chinese or fish and chips'
Me 'ARRGGGGHHH!!! Is it me??? men!
This weeks lovely image from Christine very easy to colour so I've made a couple of cards in different shades. The pansy's are printed onto watercolour paper, coloured with promarkers. Butterflies made with a Martha Stewart punch and swirls and ladybird made with my cricut. Tied tape from stash and the greeting and frame from my craft studio.
I hope you have a really nice day today, the sun is out already here in Norfolk so I hope it is good warm'ish weather for you too. I have entered this into the challenge at

The lovely ballerina

Today was one of those days...I had a doctor's appointment..it's so rare to be able to get an appointment I could have sold it on ebay! It certainly wasn't either the doctor's fault nor the receptionist, just too many people between two few doctors. Anyway, I wanted to go to the bank and to the library whilst I was in town and what with Colin retiring today I was in a bit of a tizz. It was an early appointment so I was dashing around a bit but managed to leave home with enough time to get to the doc's. Afterwards I parked up in town and went to the bank and the library and suddenly thought (as you do...) something isn't right. I looked down, no, I wasn't wearing my slippers, I was fully dressed, I had my handbag...then it hit me! I had a shiny scrubbed face!!!ARGH!!! No Make-up!! Not since the 70's have I braved the outdoors (the garden doesn't count)  without 'a face on' Oh boy! I hadn't even checked if the hair dye was still around my face from being re-purpled at the hairdressers yesterday. Luckily I only realised on the way back to the car, and when I got home I thought it would be better if I didn't know what a state I might look. I may check the mirror later under subdued lighting. So, tomorrow is the first day of Colin's retirement and I think he is a bit worried about being home more, he went a funny colour when I suggested he dried the dishes as he passed through the kitchen and maybe he could pair the socks. I think he may be looking for a part-time job.
Anyway, back to today's card. This is one of my favourite digi's from The Paper Shelter. She is so easy to colour and I do think my shading is getting better, I know I have a long way to go yet but there has been some improvement! She has been printed onto watercolour paper coloured with promarkers...there is a link on my sidebar. Layered onto mirriboard and then onto Henbury Lane papers (I think) Swirls from my cricut and flowers from wild orchid crafts. I hope you have a very good weekend, I'm off to join in the docrafts bloghop, I hope to see you there.

My DT cards for Christine's Digital Adventure

Isn't this a great digi? It's from Christine at http://goonergirl-craftingheaven.blogspot.co.uk/
This 'convertable' image is going to have many uses, I have already found three. This is printed onto Daler Rowney Bristol Board which is my favourite for printing digi's, coloured with promarkers, background papers and sentiments from my craft studio, flowers and ribbon from w.o.c.  There are some lovely digi's on Christine's blog that I just know you will have fun with.
It's another soggy day here so I may have Colin home which means the dreaded housework will have to be done! Just another two sleeps till he retires and we can't wait! We will be off in the caravan with my pens and digi's stashed away in a locker. Colin can go fishing and I will be cosy with all my 'stuff'.... heaven. Right...I will have to leave this and go and make Colin's sandwiches, I can smell the new bread so I might just have to have a crust...quality control...

Retirement here we come.....

Happy Saturday everyone...I'm staying in my craft room for a while today. Colin is listening to football downstairs, Norwich v Arsenal. I am an Arsenal supporter and guess who Colin supports? Ho hummm. I will just listen out for any cheers or boos, really, anyone would think he scored the equalising goal himself, and I am sure I am not responsible for any of the Arsenal tackles!!!
Colin is retiring next Friday the 11th so I downloaded a digi from Mo's pencil and printed it onto watercolour paper, I think this is Tom and Tilly coloured with promarkers (my hair is purple) someone said the image looked like us right down to the size of bum! I really enjoyed colouring this, I do adore her images. I backed it with papers and images  from my craft studio  printed onto matt photo paper.
I think I can hear mutterings from downstairs so I will bloghop for a while and go down when the coast is clear. Have a good weekend and keep warm.

Rose and Felix

Well....such a soggy Saturday. I really need to plant up the tubs on the patio, their new occupants are getting a bit 'leggy' in the greenhouse. Maybe I can nip outside between the rain showers. All the weeding I did a few weeks ago is looking like I just hadn't bothered and next doors chicken has taken a liking to my lily bulbs...I will have to do some re-planting there. Still, there's something about having a friendly chicken in the garden which is so soothing, and yes, I do talk to her..
Anyway, today's card is 'Rose and Felix' by the amazing Sylvia Zet over at Wee Stamps. Her images are just gorgeous! I think I have almost every one of her digi stamps and I wish the her normal 'rubber' stamps could be produced as digi's as well. The cardstock is from my stash, the backing paper and frame from my craft studio, the image is printed on watercolour cardstock and coloured with promarkers, the lovely flowers from wild orchid crafts of course and the double bow is just ribbon from my stash. Any extra swirls made with my cricut. Colin has made some bread for our sandwiches and I am sure he stood at the bottom of the stairs to let that wonderful scent drift up to me...like in the supermarket suddenly there is the lovely smell of fresh bread and everything stops!!! mmmm.... the kitchen is going to be very tempting this afternoon as I have already made some rock buns which are cool enough to eat. Do you think that one rock bun and one sandwich would be counteracted by some gardening in the rain? If I really dash about maybe I'll burn off some of the calories...why do calories taste so good?

Enchanted Love

This is one of my new downloads of digi stamps from The Paper Shelter called Enchanted Love. I adore their images, all the fine features especially the dainty little fingers and lovely to colour. The background papers from Woodland, the sentiment from docrafts and the flowers from w.o.c. along with loads of glitter and ribbon from the Easter selection at Hobbycraft. I keep visiting The Paper Shelter to see what new digis they have to offer and always come away with a whole load of them, I am really spoilt for choice there.
I haven't posted on my blog for a few weeks...bloghoppers know why and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their support and kind messages and I am now able to rejoin the hops.
The primrose nursery is flourishing...it seems like every time it rains more grow-I am not complaining, every one I have transplanted has grown and the toadstools I found growing in a bag of compost are so pretty and they are growing quite happily on a tree stump I dragged over an old manhole cover...I will post some photos here next week.
I hope you all have had a good week, keep warm this weekend...it's certainly chilly here. I'm off to do some hopping with a large mug of hot chocolate, I will visit you all soon.
I have entered this in The Paper Shelter 'Wings and Things' challenge.

Hopeful

This lovely image is a new Sylvia design over at wee stamps. Coloured with promarkers, flowers by w.o.c., ribbon from the Easter range at Hobbycraft and swirls from my cricut. Sentiment made using m.c.s.
Well...it's still raining here but I am not really complaining, I have found a secret area between my weeping cherry and the patio where primroses grow. They are growing there without so much as a 'by your leave' and I am digging them up and replanting them in the borders...then it rains and I find more baby ones, then I dig them up, replant and then more grow!!! it's amazing and I love it! Anyway must dash...we're off to Lisa's to play with the kids. Just one more thing....can anyone let me know please, if I still have that awful verification robot thing on the comments-I dislike it so much on other blogs now I am worried I still have it on mine. Here's wishing you a great weekend.

Friday 30 March 2012

Please welcome.... Poppy!!!

Our newest grand daughter has arrived. She is gorgeous and I can't wait to get to know her. The last couple of weeks has been so unbelievably frenetic with visits and looking after Jaydn and Jasmine with their different timetables...I don't know if I'm Arthur or Martha! (That was just for my father-in-law who sometimes visits my blog and doesn't leave a message!!) Young mums now-a-days dash about all over the place with all the extra clubs and things as well as the normal mum stuff...I'm sure I would have been in a heck of a muddle if I had been left in charge. Anyway, this little mite is the reason for the nappy cake and my lack of blogging news.
The weather here has been glorious and I have been working in the garden every morning till it gets too sunny. I have made friends with a couple of blackbirds (well...the missus is brown but you get my drift) it has been unbelievably peaceful sitting in the dirt just listening to nature...I hope Colin doesn't read this as I should have been able to write 'I have been working so hard getting the garden ready for the Spring' but sometimes you just have to sit back and smell the roses! I hope you have a great weekend and I will be hopping around the blogs tomorrow.

My first nappy cake

Lisa and Manwai are having their baby next Wednesday so I thought I would have a go at making a nappy cake. I watched some demos on u tube but adapted them slightly. This is the top layer. I bought a large pack of pampers, a bag of elastic bands and  two pretty white baskets and filled them with baby goodies. I opened a  nappy and rolled it up and kept it in shape with an elastic band. I made enough of these 'rolls' to go around each basket and stood them upright with a very large elastic band. Then flattened out eight nappies to go round the rolls. I had ribbon left over from their wedding so that went round the outside, stuck in place with some double sided tape just on the two ends and finished up with a double bow. And of course, the sweetest cuddly rabbit to go on the top.

This is the bottom layer, made the same as the top. But with after eights as a treat for mum.

This is the finished nappy cake, I just need to cover everything with cellophane, bows and tags but I didn't think a photo would show it very well. I am quite chuffed with my first effort, I hope you like it too.

Little Friends digi

Has it been cold where you live? It is like we're back in winter here and I had just got my violas ready to plant. If they survive the night I will be out in the garden tomorrow tucking them in. I have nearly finished digging over the veg plot and Colin has the seed potatoes ready to chit in the greenhouse. I had really been looking forward to a bit of warm weather so I hope next week is more springlike. As I am typing this I am nibbling away at a rock bun from the batch I made this evening...the recipe says they should be eaten fresh and who am I to argue with that? Ok so some can go in the cake tin but...Anyway...my card this week is a Karen Middleton digi from cuddly buddly called 'Little Friends'. I adore the way Karen depicts these fairies and they are a delight to colour. The backing cardstock is one from of those large packs of glittered cardstock from The Range. The image is coloured with my promarkers, the flowers and leaves from w.o.c. I made the greeting with m.c.s. and the swirls from my cricut. I hope you have a good week and are keeping warm.

Friday 2 March 2012

Jasmine's 3

I made this card in m.c.s. with a photo taken last year at Lisa and Manwai's wedding. I was going to dress it up with swirls and flowers but really for a little girl I think this was pretty enough. I printed it onto matt photographic paper. We have been staying at Lisa's most of this week and we're both pooped! It has been great fun though, we have played with all her birthday toys. I have been climbed on and stood on and moaned at (when the sweets ran out) and hugged and cuddled (the early morning cuddles are lovely). I have been tested, before my morning porridge on skylander charactors, questioned about star wars light sabers whilst on the way to the loo. I have stood my ground when it came to the last piece of cake and roast potato and generally got in everyones way, and now we're home...Colin is catching up with the soaps and I am going to play with some new toys. I have a hot glue gun and a thingy for the Tim Holtz distress inks, some beautiful ribbon from the Hobbycraft bargain bin and some extra sticky double sided tape, oh yes...and two of the large sheets of lovely cardstock for my cricut. I am going to have fun playing with all that stuff. So Chris...some swirls will be coming your way very soon. I hope you all have a lovely weekend. sue x

Happy 18th

This lovely digi is from Karen at Cuddly Buddly printed on watercolour card and coloured with promarkers. The layering with my cuttlebug and the fantastic swirls with my cricut. I made the box with matching cardstock also with cricut swirls (really love them!) The flowers from wild orchid craft, the ribbon and papers from stash.
It was a beautiful day here Thursday and Friday so I was out in our garden. I made a start on our veg patch which was so weedy. I must admit I sat on the ground listening to the birds, it was so peaceful, I didn't get very much gardening done but I made up for it yesterday. Colin cut back the hedge and I weeded round my bulbs. I think the ground was warming up, I did pay for it later and almost dozed through Friday evening. Today is looking like another fine one. We are off round to see Jasmine our grand daughter...she had her third birthday during the week so we can play with playdoh to our hearts content. Hope you have a good weekend.

Tuesday 7 February 2012

Thinking of you...

I love this image...it's a digi from cuddly buddly printed on water colour paper, coloured with promarkers. Backing paper from stash, sentiment from m.c.s., flowers and leaves from w.o.c. and the swirl and bee from my lovely cricut - home decor cartridge.
I also was a busy bee yesterday. Apart from shopping of the boring kind  I am re-purpled, I visited the local hairdresser and had a very nice couple of hours with enough chat and hot chocolate to unwind ready to face the ironing. Hmmm...didn't work so I will face the ironing today perhaps with Haven on tv. I had finished a commissioned card for the hairdresser but would you believe it...I made a Diamond Anniversary instead of a Silver, oh well...that will go into stock and the Silver one will be finished hopefully later today. Good job she has a sense of humour. I woke up this morning with my hair all over the place but my fringe is looking pretty good! The garden is still covered with snow so I have Colin at home with me...lovely, means I get cups of tea made (I just cannot make tea that's drinkable)   I hope you all manage to keep warm, sue x

Wednesday 1 February 2012

Eliza's daisy chain

Another Cuddly Buddly digi, printed on watercolour paper, coloured with promarkers-glossy accents on the shoes. Greeting from m.c.s. cut with my cuttlebug, swirl made with my cricut, flowers from w.o.c. I think the backing paper is Henbury Lane and ribbon from stash. I have some orders to complete so I am up n' at 'em early today, I think if I show willing with the housework then I can curl up with the promarkers, with Haven on the telly, hot chocolate by my side, cuddly blanket on my lap then I can shut out this frosty day and just play. I was quite good yesterday and even made rock buns (yes, Lexie...those rock buns) they were quite nice, I hadn't made any for ages so they made a nice change from cupcakes. My knees are recovering from last weeks tumble, luckily I have built in airbags...ok so I need to lose a lot of weight but the bit extra does come in handy when I am ambushed by the grandchildren! I hope you all manage to keep warm in this frosty weather.

Cuddly Buddly digi

Todays card is made with a really pretty digi stamp. Although my colouring still isn't as good as I would like...I am still enjoying working with digi's and this one is from Cuddly Buddly. Printed on watercolour paper, coloured with promarkers which hobbycraft have on sale at the moment, and embellished with flowers and leaves from w.o.c. the bud roses coloured with promarkers. The greeting is from my craft studio, swirls from my cricut with home decor cartridge and the image cut out with my cuttlebug. The ribbon and dragonfly are from my stash. The background paper from a selection called 'Neighbourwood'. Colin and I have been away all week staying with Lisa and her children. Manwai is away for the week and as Lisa is five weeks away from having a baby we stayed overnights just in case. I am pooped! I sat down in front of the telly last night still with a rather bent halo on my head. I had to sit down as the children had thought it a good idea to grab hold of my legs when I tried to pass them. The next thing I knew I was tumbling (I would have said flying but really it was more of a tumble) through the air to land heavily on my knees. It was rather like in star wars when those huge mechanical vehicles were stomping through the desert till Luke or Aniken wrapped the cables round the legs and they came crashing down. Not very elegant! I am home for the moment tucking into a slice of Lemon Drizzle cake. I think I deserved it. Anyway, the weekend is here, Yippeeeee

Sweet Blossom

This is one of my favourite digital stamps from Wee Stamps. She is called sweet blossom. I printed the image onto watercolour paper and coloured her and her little friend with promarkers. I used my cuttlebug to cut the circle round the image and my cricut for the swirls...home decor design. The sentiment, using my craft studio, was cut again with the cuttlebug. These digital stamps are a delight to work with, and, whilst I am not experienced with the shading etc, I do so enjoy curling up and colouring...I wish I had tried them sooner.
It is quite mild out today but dull and drizzly so I think I will be making boxes and inserts for the cards...after I have done loads of housework of course (that's in case Colin reads my blog) Anyway, I hope today is a good day for you. Keep warm, love Sue x
