Spring Goddess

By Rick St. Dennis
After all the creepiness of Creepmas I am more than ready for Springtime, yes I know the weather is going to be so cold and snowy before then but our bulbs are already peeking out from under the Magnolia and the Primroses under the Weeping Cherry tree are already large enough to replant. For some reason we have a little Primrose nursery going on between the Cherry tree and the patio and I can dig them up and replant them in my borders where they are quite happy. They are so happy that in the area we call Foggy Bottom the Primrose plants are huge and are spreading beautifully.
Right after that brief foray into our country garden it's back to the fun stuff.
This gorgeous image by Rick has been printed onto neenah cardstock (Thank you Lisa great Christmas gift) coloured with promarkers and Spectrum Noir pencils (Again thank you to Lisa and family... they bought me three tins!) then imported into Craft Artist for the backing papers and lace.

Well would you knock and sing? Looks festive enough but something's not quite right. Looks a bit er... shall we say 'well ventilated' someone obviously doesn't feel the cold. At least there is a warning sign and a bucket full of unwanted presents. Sing if you like but well away from the door and don't accept a mince pie, you never know what might be in it...

Just popping around the neighbours for a mince-pie and a 'Hello,Happy Christmas'.. come to think of it.. we saw the Jones's wandering up the path with a small bag of home made biscuits and I don't think we saw them come out again?? Maybe they are still there just sitting by the fire drinking hot chocolate or enjoying the Christmas tree and twinkling lights or are they trying to escape before lunchtime??? Da da dahhh!!!

The annual family portrait... well happiness didn't last very long did it? Was the dolly broken before it was unwrapped? the teddy with a noose, the very, very scary jack-in-the-box - I'm sure we've seen him before.. talk about a very grumpy Creepmas morning complete with tatty tree I don't fancy the chances of any carol singers knocking on their door.

So here is a very bad tempered Wizard who has really had enough of the festive season. He tried his best to cheer up the zombie kids with a few decorations but then the local witches started visiting him with 'goodies'. Now he has a cupboard full of those ditsy tins bursting with mince pies. More Christmas puddings than the whole village could get through. A fridge bulging with sausage rolls and cold cuts and sherry... sherry for goodness sake... who drinks sherry?

If you decorate your house then why wouldn't Peter the monster decorate his? I know this looks just like an ordinary outside loo but in fact this is only the entrance to what is an amazing residence. Once inside all you will need to do is to kick the 'you know what' twice and woosh! you end up way underneath the wall where it opens out into three bedrooms, a mud room and the most beautiful kitchen designed by Batty.

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Just friends and family round for Christmas. Not even on Christmas Day so what on earth could go wrong. Just a little planning and for goodness don't invite the Anti-Santa, once he gets a tentacle in the door we are all doomed! He has already been spotted in the town slithering along with some suspicious looking packages, the elves are keeping out of his way.. hopefully they are already finished with the planning and decorating.

by Rick St. Dennis
This fantastic little chap called Mr. R Elf just has to run everywhere. It's a very hectic time of the year for elves, if they run out of stardust or cookies then someone  isn't going to be a happy snow bunny. Luckily this speedy fella can collect orders almost as quickly as they're written out.

31 Days of Halloween Book

I really had a wonderful time taking part in the 31 day Halloween hop over at Smeared and Smudged. I managed to write a bit of a story each day and had so many lovely comments that I printed a book of the projects and the comments without any names or personal details.. to keep as a muse. So, I printed each project A5 size with the comments and used my Cinch binding machine to punch the holes I set the pages onto the wires whilst I made the covers. I cut the chipboard to A5 and punched the holes. I had some ordinary 3ply tissues. I separated the tissues and used single thin sheets all scrunched up and stuck them onto the covers. I gesso'd them and rubbed distress ink all over. I was astonished at the result.
by Rick St. Dennis
An example of the inside of the book, the project and the story then a page of some amazing comments.

Inside the front cover is Rick's bio, I owe an awful lot to him. He is so generous and very supportive.

This lovely lady is just having so much fun before settling down to all the Christmas festivities. Am I too late?

by Rick St. Dennis
I think Salome is too late to the party as always. There are bound to be some stragglers so we will have to see what happens as the weeks go on to Creepmas.
This dramatic image by Rick St. Dennis has been printed onto neenah card which I buy from Crafters Companion and coloured with promarkers and spectrum noir pencils. I also use a program called Craft Artist 2.. sometimes you can buy this program for under a fiver. Believe me it is fantastic value for money as a manipulation tool.. also you can collect several free digi kits to go along with it. The program itself has background papers, embellishments, colour and photo manipulation in fact everything I could possibly wish for except ease of use. Therefore I have written several tutorials to go along with it. Not professional ones just as I go along and learn stuff so I write it down to share with other newbies.

Is this the end? Halloween Hop day 31

by Rick St. Dennis
Is no-where safe? The dragons have returned led by the mother of all dragons. Since when can a myth cause such devastation... Lucifer was supposed to prevent this but when you make a deal with him you never know the final price...hell hath no fury like this mother! She is beyond angry at the loss of her family of monsters and dragons. Hopefully the Bayou Witch can be brought in as back-up, the Warlock set off at dusk to collect her taking heed of the glow above the forest.. Daisy the That-a-way Witch is getting as close as she can reporting back to Brian the Knight who is gathering the ghosts for a final assault. Hedwig and Hannah are getting the brooms primed ready for the call to arms. Sassy and Batty Bettina are already in place on the ground, spells at the ready. A code has been received. The Warlock and the Bayou Witch are nearby, Daisy has joined them, Brian is ready.

Victorious? Halloween Image 30

by Rick St. Dennis
The aftermath, and the cobbles are covered with the blood of the courageous. The battle was swift and fierce, our town and countryside has been saved by the bravery of the citizens of Twilight. We mourn our lost companions but all is well. The survivors can sleep tonight, evil has been vanquished, the lights forming a halo around yonder mountains are not to be feared... the whispering in the forest just leaves rustling, the lack of animals is a coincidence, the scorch marks on the trees surely just left over from the spells.

Magyk Halloween Hop image 29

by Rick St. Dennis
So this is why Battie thought she saw Mad Mr Hare. Thanks to the Bayou witch he is back with the Troll brothers and Fred, Jack and Peter.. we still do not know the price of their return. This wonderfully striking witch is the ghost co-ordinator and she will set them on a collision course with the giant snails.
The battle is raging in the forest, Daisy and the Warlock have been flying missions overhead. Count Calabaza and the rest of the pumpkin heads have destroyed a battalion of Spiders. Lou and Fluffy have seen off the 'carpet' nasties.
Batty Bettina and Sassy are clearing the main paths of the forest as they go. Hattie is armed with those rather small curly wurlys and strawberry chewitts and her and Hedwig joined forces with Hannah and have kept the tearoom clear for any casualties. The ghostly Mad Mr Hare is helping them and nothing and no-one is getting past that foursome.

Fluffy Halloween Hop 28

by Rick St. Dennis
Here is a snapshot of little Lou with a companion. She did ask if she could keep him and for some reason he seemed quite docile with her. There are still those very weird monsters (still looking like aunties carpets) behind her. They have taken over the bandstand where their fallen comrades are being treated. It has been noticed that there are not as many nasties as before. Something different is happening, something in the air, a bit like a storm approaching.

Her home was under attack but these ladies are so much stronger than they seem. At the moment she is just resting after battle, she was quite shocked to see what she thought was Mad Mr Hare but when she looked straight at him - he wasn't there.
Batty has made a life for herself in the old tree on Twilight Hill. On the outside all there is to show are a couple of flower tubs and a lamp with a rather nice stone path but inside there are steps which lead down to a wonderful entrance hall with rooms off to the sides. A lovely living room with comfy sofas. Two bedrooms and of course the other essential rooms. There are also Spell rooms and persuasion rooms
.
If you are following the hop you should have arrived here after Jane and your next stop is Sarah The complete list for the hop is on my sidebar.
