Background Lake House and Special Effects 1 and 3
The Graveyard Keeper had changed shifts. He now had to do a stint in the Lake house. He was really not impressed.. the smell really got to him and his wife was suspicious when he got home and no flies landed on him.
The old rat was missing his family.. where did that thought come from? He hadn't thought of them in months. His young would be all grown by now.. there. The thought had come and gone so swiftly, He wasn't even aware of thinking at all. Confused and weary he somehow knew that he would not be able to stop walking. It seemed as though he was being summoned or carried or dragged, not aware of walking any more. There, at the far corner of the boathouse the colours didn't match the surrounding boards. There wasn't any lighting except for an old oil lamp which cast shadows where there shouldn't be shadows and again that scent. It was very quiet which seemed unusual for this time of the evening. No roosting birds, no mice running about their business, no spiders with their scratching spindly legs tap dancing over the fishing poles. The old rat had never experienced this sense of nothingness. Just the scent and the quiet. The utter utter hopelessness. And the fear.
