Day 31 of the Halloween Hop

by Rick St. Dennis
Background The lake House and One Ghostly Night
for Mischief Circus
The loudest shriek came from within the old Boat House.. it went on and on without pause. Certainly the most terrifying sound, chilling the bones of anyone who heard -  then nothing. Absolute silence. Sam rolled to the left away from the Harvester, jumped up and ran to the Boat House. He clawed at the door and dragged it open. Inside all was still. Slowly and silently the mice crept in and ran along the side of the old boards and buckets. They scampered over the bones of their loved ones unsure of their safety and sent back a message. Sam kept to the shadows as he tried to miss the creaking board just inside the door. The voles climbed up to the window which had been splattered with blood and tried to peer in. The Pumpkin Demon stood beside a large box which was dripping blood. He had waited until the Banshee had started shrieking and had cut off her head. It was the only way to silence the creature for one cannot kill that which is not alive.
The bats were still unsure whether or not to roost in the old Lake house as every now and then the box rocked a bit. The survivors were still skittish after so many losses and they had to work together to rebuild their dens and nests. The Troll sisters were missed (the goats didn't miss them at all) and Kevin invited Tipsy to join him, Fifi and the skeletons for Sunday dinner. All should be fairly quiet the day after Halloween. Work will begin on clearing all the salt away so the fish and the little rats could come home. The best way would be to boil the water in the lake so arrangements will have to be made to visit a coven to buy some spells.

This is for the Smeared and Smudged wonderfully spooky hop. If you are hopping you should have arrived here from the amazing Maureen and your next stop is the fantastic  Domino Art  Have fun Mwahaha
